The Virginia Biomass Energy Group held its 1st Annual meeting on February 11, 2009 at the Dept. of Forestry headquarters in Charlottesville, VA. The well-attended event featured 11 speakers, ranging in topics from the Swedish model for energy standards & policy to torrefaction and pelletization. The 60 participants also enjoyed a well-appointed breakfast and lunch service. After the presentations ended, a short organization meeting was held, and a steering committee was formed to guide and develop VBEG over the coming year. Post-conference, several members met at Vivace for dinner, to discuss the potential for a district energy project in the state. Dillon Franks of Relevant Ideas will be the organizing point person for VBEG members contributing to that project. |
